Intuition: Your Inner Voice Speaks To You!

Trust your intuition, your gut feeling and your inner voice, because they will help you make better decisions.
Intuition: your inner voice speaks to you!

For Albert Einstein, intuition was the only really important thing. It’s not magic or spell, but a subtle ability that shifts our balance to one side or the other. It enables you to assess in a little over two seconds whether you can trust a person or not. It is  your inner voice that speaks to you.

Although there is a lot of literature that considers the more psychological, pure and interesting sense of intuition, it is a subject that has also been extensively researched and analyzed scientifically.

Howard Gardner, a well-known expert on the theory of mind, speaks of the need to develop an intuitive intelligence in order to be more receptive to our own inner world.

If there’s any reason exploring intuition has always been of interest, it’s because it guides a large part of our day-to-day decisions. Which way is right? Who can you trust Which projects should you accept or decline? Your intuition helps you in many situations.

No one can guarantee that you will make successful decisions by following your intuition. However, you can act according to your being, your emotions and values, because your inner voice speaks to you. This enables you to achieve inner balance.

The sociologist and essayist Malcolm Galdwell has dealt intensively with this topic. He explains how stockbrokers, doctors, psychologists, mechanics or housewives can make the right decisions in a few seconds. Is it some kind of power that goes beyond ordinary psychic abilities? The answer is no. Read on to learn more about it.

Essential characteristics of intuition

The Center for the Study of Intuition (CAI ) was founded 40 years ago in the USA. It is led by Dr. William H. Kautz from the Stanford Research Institute and aims to scientifically investigate this dimension.

So far, consensus has been reached on the following conclusions:

  • The intuition is part of the so-called “adaptive unconscious”. Every piece of information learned, felt, internalized, thought and experienced creates a unique “pool of wisdom” that defines each person. It is your essence, your inner voice, your intellectual capital that you use almost unconsciously every day.
  • The power of the intuitive person lies in using this capital. It is easy for masters in this field to separate the wheat from the chaff. Decision making is the art of sorting out, intuition is an amazing tool to help you with this.
  • There are people who are more intuitive than others. Some concentrate more on logic, analysis and reality, others like to be guided by their intuition, their gut feeling.
  • The intuition is spontaneous and occurs suddenly. Your inner voice speaks without waiting for arguments. It is a response to a specific stimulus, which is beneficial when quick decisions are required.
  • You can develop your intuition. Thanks to the neuroplasticity of the brain, intuitive learning is possible. Various ways have been suggested to accomplish this. Possible methods are meditation and relaxation.

How to develop your intuition and listen to your soul

Before considering techniques to improve your intuition, you may want to know why this is beneficial. Do not forget that “traditional” intelligence requires, among other things, reflection and logical thinking. But at least since Howard Gardner developed his theory of multiple intelligence, we have known that there are different forms of intelligence.

Intuitive intelligence enables you to use your awareness and emotions to make faster decisions. It is your inner voice that gives you information that you cannot get through rational thought.

As a University of New South Wales  study conducted by psychologists Galang Lufityanto, Chris Donkin, and Joel Pearson shows, intuition and the courage to develop and improve it can make decision-making easier. Even if it doesn’t necessarily have to be the right decision, it still fits your needs. This is an important starting point.

Key to Developing Intuitive Intelligence: Listen to your inner voice when it speaks!

Listen to your inner voice when it speaks!

Intuition is made up of feelings, not clear thoughts. So you have to know how to hear your inner voice, how to identify your emotions. Introspection is important to find calm and balance.

  • Once you understand and control your emotions, you should allow yourself to practice Zen as recommended by Daniel Goleman. Try to reach a mental state of deep calm that makes you more receptive to your inner voice and also more open to others.
  • Intuition sometimes produces complex messages made up of sensations, shapes or words. You have to interpret them correctly. Try to give your mind freedom, it should not be based on prejudice or be restricted by barriers. The freer your mind, the better your intuition.

Why is it important to develop intuition?

Your intuition helps you connect with the world through your values, experiences and unconscious information. It is made up of sensations, emotions, and premonitions that help you judge reality.

It is a skill that enables you to make quick and automatic decisions. It will also help you solve problems.

Since your inner voice is irrational, you may not trust it. You may think that logic and intellect are better advisors for making decisions. Don’t forget, however, that intuition is your guide. However, it does require self-confidence and positive self-esteem for you to trust. Nevertheless, it is advisable to make comparisons with other sources in order to actually make balanced decisions.

You can train your intuitive intelligence to be more receptive to your emotions. Listen to your inner voice, because in many situations it will guide you on the right path.
