10 pieces of advice on how to take better care of yourself

“The greatest happiness in life is knowing that you love yourself, or rather, that you love yourself anyway.”

Victor Hugo

A few days ago I was able to enjoy one of the many videos by the writer Elsa Punset, in which she shows how to take care of yourself with the help of some good exercises. Elsa Punset explains that it is important to learn to take care of yourself when we grow up.

So today I want to give you 10 pieces of advice on how to take better care of yourself and learn to love yourself a little more every day. As you deserve.

1- Learn to express your feelings

If you fail to express your own feelings, you are creating an insurmountable inner barrier. This can trigger internal blockages or fears or lead to the fact that we can no longer enjoy our emotional freedom.

Sharing your feelings with people around you will also bring you closer to them and will shift communication to a more personal and trusting level.

2- Try not to compare yourself to others

Each of us is unique. Therefore, comparing yourself to others will only result in you turning into someone who you are not. When we don’t accept ourselves for who we are, with our strengths and weaknesses, we block our essence. That which is responsible for making you feel alive and love yourself.

Compare yourself to others in a healthy way to learn, have experiences that will help you, and advice that will enable you to grow beyond yourself.

3- Find a small group

Find a group of people you can count on for when you need emotional hold and advice to help you understand yourself. In our life it often happens that we feel blocked and see no way out. A good friend who loves and respects you will always share the great wisdom of life with you and show you the light.

4- Take the time to enjoy

We all have to reward and pamper each other. Loving yourself and taking care of yourself by doing what you like will enable you to feel good about yourself. Don’t get into the routine of doing the same thing over and over again. Think about how you can best enjoy your time and your loved ones.

5- Laugh whenever you can

Surround yourself with people who view life realistically, but also optimistically, visionary and humorous. Many studies show that laughter is a gift for your soul and your body. It also has a positive effect on your environment.

6- Relax

When you relax, you are doing something good for your mind and helping your body to stay in shape, in a healthy inner balance. Do yoga, tai chi, meditate, listen to music, read a book. Any activity that allows you to switch off and feel good about yourself is appropriate.

7- Learn to say no

A lesson that many have yet to learn. Being able to say no to unreasonable expectations, requests, or inquiries will enable you to respect yourself more and make others respect you. In this way you will be able to avoid unpleasant situations on an emotional level in the future.

8- Do a job that you love

Find out if your work is good for you and if you feel comfortable in your work environment. Focus on the aspects of your job that you enjoy most and less on the ones that you don’t like so much. In this context, however, it is helpful to keep in mind that every job involves some unpleasant aspect.

If you are ready to change your professional situation so that you want to do what you have always dreamed of, I really want to encourage you to do so. Remember: if you dream about it, it means that you have what it takes to make it happen.

9- Exercise

Countless studies show that exercise promotes the prevention, maintenance and rehabilitation of health and at the same time benefits your character, your discipline and your decision-making in everyday life. Getting more active in everyday life is a good place to start.

10- Maintain your spirituality

Try to give time in your everyday life to the things that bring you peace, beauty and balance. Follow your own spiritual path.

Don’t include anything inside you that has to do with love, don’t be ashamed to express it to your loved ones. Share your thoughts with those you trust.

Feel the silence and enjoy yourself.
